Which is Better: Kia vs. Hyundai?

You see a lot of Kia and Hyundai models around Las Vegas. Both are affordable and reliable vehicles but Kia is the J.D. Power #1 mass-market brand in initial quality, five years in a row. If you’re trying to find the very best vehicle for your daily commute and adventures around Henderson, you might still be curious which is better, Kia or Hyundai? Jim Marsh Kia explains the major differences here. Then, head into the dealership to test drive a Kia and experience for yourself why Kia is a better value.

Kia vs. Hyundai: Technology

Kia models come with UVO, an innovative infotainment system that allows you to do a bunch of cool things, including connecting your phone to Bluetooth, stream your favorite music and podcasts, send the location of your car to your phone, and much more. Hyundai has a similar system called Hyundai Blue Link.

Kia vs. Hyundai: Warranty

Whether you’re driving a Kia or Hyundai, you will have peace of mind on Boulder City streets because both Hyundai and Kia have a long-lasting limited basic warranty. However, with Kia you get an even more impressive 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.

Kia vs. Hyundai: Vehicle Comparisons

  • Kia Sorento vs. Hyundai Santa Fe: The Kia Sorento begins at an MSRP of $26,990 while the Santa Fe starts at an MSRP of $26,125. However, the Kia Sorento is a better value because it provides a standard third row seat. If you’re still set on comparing the Sorento and the Santa Fe, you’ll notice that the Kia Sorento performs better as well! The Hyundai only has up to 235 hp, while the Sorento delivers up to 290 hp with its optional V6.
  • Kia Forte vs. Hyundai Elantra: The 2020 Kia Forte starts at an MSRP of only $17,890, while the 2020 Hyundai Elantra starts at $19,150 MSRP. The two models offer similar basic specs and provide up to 31 mpg city and 41 mpg highway with the proper equipment. However, the new Kia Forte provides much more standard safety features, suchas a lane departure warning, in its base trim. The Forte also offers a slightly larger trunk.
  • Kia Sportage vs. Hyundai Tucson: You can park a 2020 Kia Sportage in your garage for a starting MSRP of only $23,990, or you could pay $23,550 MSRP for a 2020 Hyundai Tucson. These two five-passenger SUVs both provide a similar amount of cargo space, but a new Kia Sportage is available in a sport-tuned high-end trim level with a 240-hp turbocharged engine. The most powerful Tucson engine only provides 181 hp.
